About this position
The Institute for Health Innovation & Technology at the National University of Singapore is inviting applications for a full-time contract Postdoctoral Fellow/Research Fellow position in electrochemical sensing and biomedical diagnostics at the Kent Ridge Campus, Singapore.
The successful researcher will join an interdisciplinary laboratory developing integrated electrochemical sensing technologies for early and accurate disease detection. The work will combine electrochemical biosensing, micro/nanofabrication, surface functionalization, point-of-care development, microfluidics, and biomedical diagnostics. Research applications include detecting clinically relevant biomarkers, particularly cardiac-related biomarkers and indicators of cardiovascular disease.
Responsibilities include designing and optimizing high-sensitivity electrochemical sensors; developing assays in plasma and other complex biological matrices; addressing fouling, interference, stability, and multiplex compatibility; analyzing experimental data; and integrating sensors with microfluidic or wearable technologies. The fellow will also prepare publications, technical reports, and conference presentations while collaborating with clinicians and other interdisciplinary researchers.
Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field. Relevant experience includes electrochemical biosensors, analytical chemistry, surface functionalization, microfluidics, aptamer or affinity-reagent integration, multiplex assay development, and signal or data analysis. Experience with DPV, SWV, CV, EIS, electrode modification, nanomaterials, photolithography, electrodeposition, screen-printing, and assays in plasma, serum, or whole blood is advantageous.
The position is full-time and contract-based. The advertisement does not state a salary, stipend, tuition benefit, or application deadline. Applicants should submit a cover letter, CV, and the names, institutions, and email addresses of three references through the NUS careers portal.
Funding details

What's required
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related discipline. Demonstrated hands-on experience with electrochemical biosensors, surface functionalization in complex biological matrices, microfluidics, and analytical chemistry is required, along with strong analytical skills and experience with signal-processing or data-analysis tools. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team are expected. Experience developing aptamers, integrating affinity reagents into electrochemical platforms, multiplex assay development, and cross-reactivity management is required or strongly preferred. Preferred skills include aptamer selection and structure-switching probe design; DPV, SWV, CV, and EIS techniques; gold or carbon electrode functionalization; photolithography, electrodeposition, or screen-printing; bioassay development in plasma, serum, or whole blood; signal optimization and calibration for point-of-care sensing; and device packaging or system integration.
