About this position
The National University of Singapore is seeking a Research Fellow to join its integrated photonics research group in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the College of Design and Engineering, Kent Ridge Campus, Singapore.
The project focuses on developing integrated tunable lasers for quantum sensing. Research will combine semiconductor gain chips with low-loss photonic circuits, including thin-film lithium niobate and silicon nitride, to create narrow-linewidth, tunable, and frequency-stabilized laser sources. The fellow may also explore nonlinear frequency conversion and electro-optic frequency control.
Responsibilities include designing, fabricating, and assembling integrated laser devices; performing optical and electrical characterization of linewidth, tuning, and frequency stability; and assisting with mentoring graduate students. Applicants should hold, or be close to completing, a Ph.D. in Physics, Applied Physics, Materials Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline. Knowledge of integrated photonics, programming experience in Python or MATLAB, teamwork, and effective communication are required or expected. Nano/micro-fabrication or photonic packaging experience is highly desirable.
Applications should be submitted through the NUS careers portal. The vacancy reference is Req ID 34850.
