About this position

The University of Queensland is recruiting a full-time Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join the Queensland Alliance for Environmental Health Sciences at the Dutton Park campus in Australia. The fixed-term appointment runs through 31 December 2028 and is supported by research funded by the Minderoo Foundation.

Working with project lead Dr Xianyu (Fisher) Wang, the fellow will investigate exposure sources and measure plastic additive chemicals in human matrices. The research combines environmental chemistry, analytical chemistry, environmental health, toxicology, and human exposure assessment, with a focus on developing, validating, and applying methods for trace organic chemical analysis in human body fluids, tissues, and other complex matrices.

Responsibilities include leading or co-leading analytical method development, validation, and application; producing research outputs and publications; contributing to external funding applications and knowledge translation; supporting research staff and supervising Honours and Higher Degree by Research students; and engaging with multidisciplinary collaborators, industry, government, professional bodies, and the wider community.

Applicants should have completed or be near completion of a PhD in environmental chemistry, analytical chemistry, environmental health, toxicology, or a related discipline. Strong laboratory skills, experience with trace chemical analysis, and practical knowledge of LC-MS/MS, GC-MS/MS, LC-MS QToF, or GC-HRMS are required. Publications, conference presentations, collaborative skills, and evidence of research funding contributions are also expected. Unrestricted Australian work rights are required, and employer sponsorship is unavailable.

The salary is AUD 85,372–113,659 plus 17% superannuation. Apply online through UQ Careers using reference R-70079 with a resume and cover letter addressing the selection criteria.
