About this position

Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s Xin Gu Laboratory, in collaboration with Harvard Medical School, is recruiting a full-time postdoctoral research fellow in Boston, Massachusetts. The project focuses on fundamental mechanisms of protein turnover and protein homeostasis and their roles in physiology and disease.

The interdisciplinary Gu Lab combines genetic screening, proteomics, mechanistic biochemistry, structural biology, and in vivo animal models. Research may investigate newly discovered cellular pathways using mouse models, mouse genetics, tissue analysis, primary cells, viral delivery, imaging, and other in vivo approaches. Additional projects may reconstitute cellular processes with purified proteins and define molecular mechanisms using cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM), cryo-electron tomography (cryo-ET), and complementary biochemical methods.

The lab is especially interested in applicants trained in mouse in vivo biology, neuroscience, immunology, developmental biology, cancer biology, protein biochemistry, cryo-EM, or cryo-ET. Prior experience with protein degradation is not required. Fellows will lead independent projects, connect molecular mechanisms with physiological function, communicate findings through publications and presentations, collaborate across Dana-Farber and Harvard, and develop future independent research programs.

Applicants need a Ph.D., M.D./Ph.D., or equivalent doctoral degree in a relevant biological or biomedical field, a strong research record, independent research ability, critical analysis skills, strong communication skills, scientific curiosity, and collaborative working ability. Submit a CV, a brief research and future-interest statement, and contact details for three references. The listed salary range is $72,000-$76,385. The application deadline is December 29, 2026.
