About this position

University College Dublin is seeking a UCD Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 1 for a temporary 17-month research appointment in the UCD School of Agriculture and Food Science.

The fellow will contribute to the EU Mission Soil project SOB4ES, an international consortium focused on soil biodiversity, ecosystem services and sustainable land management. The project brings together 17 EU partners and two associated partners to advance understanding and practical application of sustainable soil management.

The research will centre on stakeholder engagement, reviewing literature on soil biodiversity management, and translating research findings into accessible practice abstracts, policy briefs and consultation responses for decision makers. This work connects agricultural science and environmental research with knowledge exchange, policy development and practical land-management needs.

The role is research-focused and will be conducted under the supervision and direction of a Principal Investigator. Alongside the specified research programme, the appointment provides opportunities to develop research skills, contribute to peer-reviewed publications and funding proposals, mentor graduate students, and build experience in research-led teaching.

The position offers an opportunity for an early-stage postdoctoral researcher to work within a collaborative European research environment addressing major challenges in soil health, biodiversity conservation and sustainable land use.
