Adelaide University is advertising a three-year Postdoctoral Research Fellow position in Structural Engineering and Composite Materials/Structures within the School of Civil Engineering and Construction Management.

The project focuses on advanced fibre-reinforced polymer (FRP) composites for structural engineering applications, including durability assessment and sustainable infrastructure systems. The successful candidate will work with Professor Scott Smith and Dr Tafsirojjaman (Tafsir), contributing to a collaborative research team and supporting HDR/PhD students.

This opportunity is especially relevant for researchers with experience in civil engineering, structural engineering, materials science, experimental testing, analytical modelling, numerical studies, and long-term performance evaluation of composite structures. The role includes project delivery, coordination of day-to-day research activities, liaison with an industry partner, and contribution to journal articles and grant applications.

Eligibility highlights include a PhD in Civil Engineering specialising in Structural Engineering, a strong publication or project record in FRP composites, and demonstrated ability in experimental and/or numerical/analytical research. Experience with FRP characterisation, full-scale structural testing, durability, service life, and carbon footprint evaluation is preferred.

The position is based at City East Campus, Adelaide University, and is a part-time 0.75 FTE fixed-term appointment. Funding is available for approximately 3 years, with salary at Level A, Step 6 ($102,024 per annum pro-rata) plus 17% superannuation.
