About this position
The University of Oslo’s Centre for Precision Psychiatry, within the Institute of Clinical Medicine, is seeking a postdoctoral researcher for the Research Council of Norway-funded ResiliDem project. The project investigates resilience and risk factors for Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias by integrating large-scale human genetic data with phenotypic, environmental, lifestyle, and registry-based information.
The researcher will work at the intersection of precision medicine, statistical data science, population-based research, and data-driven neuroscience. The project involves analyzing complex longitudinal datasets to understand disease mechanisms, heterogeneity, resilience, risk factors, and trajectories across the life course. Work will include integration of genetic information with clinical, cognitive, lifestyle, environmental, and registry data, with an emphasis on rigorous statistical analysis and interpretation of real-world population data.
The Centre provides access to extensive research infrastructure, including biomarkers, clinical and cognitive variables, genotyping and sequencing data, and MRI brain imaging from patients with neuropsychiatric and severe mental disorders. The research environment also draws on Norwegian population cohorts such as DemGene, HUNT, and HUSK, as well as international resources including UK Biobank, ABCD, ADNI, and major consortia such as the Psychiatric Genomics Consortium, ENIGMA, and the European Alzheimer’s Disease DNA BioBank.
The postdoctoral fellow will develop and apply statistical methods for population-based and longitudinal studies, prepare and harmonize data from cohorts, biobanks, and health registries, and conduct model development and sensitivity analyses. Computational and machine-learning approaches may be used where appropriate, while the central focus remains advanced statistical analysis, scientific interpretation, and biological and clinical insight.
The fellow will join an interdisciplinary team of statisticians, geneticists, clinicians, and data scientists and conduct research using secure infrastructure, including the University of Oslo’s TSD platform. The fellowship is designed to support scientific independence, peer-reviewed publication, and future research or academic leadership in precision medicine, population health, and data-driven neuroscience.
