About this position
Georgetown University Medical Center’s Department of Family Medicine is recruiting a Postdoctoral Research Fellow for the Primary Care Community of Scholars (PCCS) Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Training Program. The program develops researchers prepared to conduct rigorous primary care research and translate findings into healthcare delivery and policy.
The fellowship addresses persistent differences in health outcomes across the Washington, DC metropolitan region. Research priorities include access to primary care for tribal, rural, and underserved populations; preventive care; behavioral health services; nutrition and wellness; chronic disease; maternal morbidity and mortality; and related primary care challenges.
Fellows may examine the implementation and effectiveness of interventions and delivery systems involving chronic disease, behavioral health conditions, cancer, maternal morbidity, infectious diseases, workforce shortages, and gaps in access to care. The role includes research project management, study planning, quantitative and qualitative data collection, data analysis, interpretation, reporting, independent research, publication, conference participation, and development of research theories and methodologies.
The training environment brings together Georgetown University Medical Center, MedStar Health Research Institute, the Robert Graham Center, the Thrive Center for Children and Families, and the American Board of Family Medicine. This network provides access to large-scale clinical and physician-workforce data, community-based research settings, and policy-relevant research opportunities.
Fellows work with primary and secondary mentors led by Michelle Roett and collaborate with researchers including Yalda Jabbarpour, Alison Huffstetler, Jordan Everson, Sarah Kureshi, Karey Sutton, Jeffrey Weinfeld, Adam Visconti, and Deborah Perry. The interdisciplinary program also includes coursework, teaching, mentorship, outreach, and supervision of pipeline student research.
