About this position
University of Oxford is recruiting a Postdoctoral Research Scientist in Epitranscriptomics at the Target Discovery Institute, NDM Research Building, Old Road Campus, Headington, Oxford, United Kingdom.
The project sits in Dr Chunxiao Song’s research group and focuses on DNA and RNA modifications, especially pseudouridine and pseudouridine synthases (PUS), with applications in cancer, diagnostics, and therapeutics. The group develops technologies to map epigenetic and epitranscriptomic marks and translate discoveries into biomedical opportunities.
This is a full-time, fixed-term 12-month postdoctoral position funded by Ludwig. The role involves leading research projects, developing experimental protocols, testing hypotheses, analysing scientific data, contributing to reports and journal articles, presenting findings, and collaborating with colleagues and partner institutions.
Applicants should hold, or be close to completing, a PhD/DPhil in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, or a related discipline. Strong skills in molecular biology, biochemistry, and cell biology are essential, along with experience in CRISPR-Cas9 knockout cell lines, bioinformatic analysis of DNA/RNA modifications, small RNAs, recombinant protein expression and purification, and independent research. Experience with human samples, NGS-based modification sequencing, publications, and supervision/training of lab members is desirable.
Applications must be submitted online by 26 November 2026 at 12 midday. Upload only a CV and supporting statement that explains how you meet the selection criteria. Quote reference 188916 in correspondence.
