About this position
The Babraham Institute is recruiting a Postdoctoral Research Scientist to study the role of extracellular proteostasis in healthy ageing and host defence against pathogens. The project addresses mechanisms that maintain protein quality outside cells and prevent protein aggregation, a process associated with age-related functional decline and diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease.
The successful researcher will join the David group within the Institute’s Signalling Programme, a collaborative research environment focused on advancing understanding of signalling and mechanisms that support healthy ageing. Building on discoveries of extracellular proteostasis networks in C. elegans, the post-holder will investigate how extracellular protein quality control influences health at both tissue and whole-organism levels.
The work will combine genetics, microscopy, proteomics and functional assays in C. elegans. The researcher will be encouraged to tackle challenging questions and develop an independent research project while contributing to the group’s broader programme on ageing, proteostasis and host defence.
The Babraham Institute is a life-sciences research organisation with collaborative facilities and scientific training opportunities. Postdoctoral researchers can also access career-development courses through the Postdoc Academy at the University of Cambridge.
