About this position

Sorbonne Université is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher to join the team led by Dr Fabienne Foufelle, “Metabolic diseases, diabetes and comorbidities,” within UMRS 1166 (Inserm / Sorbonne Université) and the ICAN University Hospital Institute at Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital in Paris.

The project focuses on defining the optimized configuration of an adipose tissue-on-chip device for adipocyte culture. The work sits at the intersection of metabolic disease biology, tissue engineering, and microdevice-based cell culture, with strong links to the study of type 2 diabetes comorbidities such as insulin resistance and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.

Main activities include developing advanced cell-culture methods in microdevices, characterizing the effect of the adipocyte secretome on other cell types such as hepatocytes and Kupffer cells, isolating mature adipocytes from rodents and humans, and isolating adipocyte precursors and differentiating them into adipocytes in vitro. The post is embedded in a research environment that combines basic and clinical expertise in diabetology and hepatology.

Eligible applicants should have a PhD or equivalent in medical sciences or pharmacological sciences. The posting highlights required knowledge of adipose and hepatic tissue cell models and metabolic pathophysiology, along with practical experience in cell culture and cell signaling studies. The team also values literature review skills, scientific autonomy, and the ability to work collaboratively.

This is a full-time temporary postdoctoral position based in Paris, France, at UMRS 1166, 91 Bd de l’Hôpital. The application deadline is 30 November 2026 at 08:00 (Europe/Paris).

Applications are submitted by email to [email protected].
