About this position

Postdoctoral position in AI-assisted protein design at CNRS and Institut Pasteur.

The post is hosted in the Biologie Structurale Computationnelle unit, led by Dr. Max Bonomi, within CNRS UMR3528 and the Department of Structural Biology and Chemistry at the Institut Pasteur in Paris. The researcher will work on cutting-edge computational approaches for protein design, using artificial intelligence to create proteins with targeted structures, properties, and functions.

The role is centered on developing and applying advanced AI methods, including generative models, diffusion models, and protein language models. The project combines method development with practical design work, moving from sequence generation to structure prediction and in silico evaluation. The successful candidate will help build computational pipelines, analyze predictions and simulation results, and refine methods through iterative cycles informed by experimental feedback.

This position is strongly collaborative. The postdoc will work closely with experimental teams at the Institut Pasteur and with other research partners to define design objectives, identify promising candidates, and integrate experimental results into the computational workflow. The role also includes scientific coordination, documentation and sharing of code and tools, presentation of results at seminars and conferences, and contributions to publications.

The unit offers a research environment focused on computational structural biology, with active interaction between theoretical and experimental work.
