About this position
The Department of Civil, Environmental, and Ocean Engineering at Stevens Institute of Technology is recruiting a Postdoctoral Researcher to join the iSMART (Intelligent Systems for Monitoring and Assessment of Riverine and Terrestrial Environments) Lab. The project centers on cold regions hydrology with a particular emphasis on river ice processes and hydrodynamic modeling in northern U.S. watersheds.
The researcher will work on interdisciplinary problems that combine remote sensing, hydraulic modeling, and environmental forecasting to improve understanding of ice-related river dynamics and flooding. The role includes advancing the use of optical and radar remote sensing data for monitoring river ice conditions, developing and evaluating forecasting models for water temperature in river systems, and calibrating and validating hydraulic models that simulate ice jam processes and their influence on ice-induced flooding.
In addition to research, the position involves collaborative work within the iSMART lab, including assisting with proposal development, scientific publishing, and mentoring graduate students. The postdoctoral researcher will contribute to a lab environment focused on applied environmental engineering research and interdisciplinary collaboration in support of studies across northern U.S. watersheds.
