About this position
The Boettcher Lab, led by Principal Investigator Prof. Dr. med. Steffen Boettcher, is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher for work in experimental hematology and functional genomics. The position is based in the Department of Medical Oncology and Hematology at University Hospital Zurich and the University of Zurich, within the Comprehensive Cancer Center Zurich.
The laboratory investigates molecular mechanisms underlying normal and malignant hematopoiesis, with particular emphasis on hematopoietic stem cell biology, clonal hematopoiesis, and leukemogenesis. Its research integrates molecular and cellular technologies, functional genomics, and preclinical disease models to address biologically and clinically relevant questions.
The successful researcher will lead an innovative project on the molecular mechanisms of hematopoietic stem cell dysfunction, with the long-term aim of identifying therapeutic opportunities for patients with inherited bone marrow failure. The work will involve designing and conducting experimental projects, establishing and characterizing advanced in vitro and in vivo disease models, and applying CRISPR-based genome editing and functional genomics approaches.
Additional activities include mechanistic studies using molecular and cellular techniques, analysis of complex experimental datasets, supervision and mentoring of junior researchers and students, and contributions to scientific publications and international conference presentations. The researcher will work in a collaborative international environment with access to advanced technologies, research infrastructure, and close interaction with scientists and clinician-researchers.
