About this position
The University of Oulu is recruiting a Postdoctoral Researcher in Immunological Mechanisms of Inflammation and Tumorigenesis at the Faculty of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine in Oulu, Finland. The position is part of a multidisciplinary and international research environment focused on biochemistry, molecular medicine, and disease-related cellular regulation.
The project investigates the immunological mechanisms of inflammation and tumorigenesis, with a particular emphasis on the role of helper T lymphocytes. Research will combine in vitro assays and in vivo disease models, alongside cutting-edge systems biology methods such as RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, proteomics, and single-cell omics. The exact project direction will be agreed upon according to the selected candidate’s qualifications, interests, and expertise.
The post is suited to candidates with expertise in immunology and strong experience in cell biology or molecular biology. Applicants must hold a recent PhD in life sciences, completed by the closing date and obtained no more than 10 years ago. Experience with animal work is preferred. The university also values publication experience, ability to attract supplementary funding, teaching experience, bioinformatics and IT skills, and strong communication and teamwork.
As part of the faculty, the successful researcher may also supervise BSc, MSc, and PhD students, contribute to teaching, and participate in research funding applications. The role is full time and fixed-term for 16 months, with a starting gross salary of approximately €3,600–€4,200 per month before taxes, plus possible performance-based pay. The position includes a trial period of 6 months.
