About this position
Uppsala University is recruiting a full-time postdoctoral researcher in Infectious Diseases, with a focus on in vitro and in silico Bacteriology, at the Department of Medical Sciences in Uppsala, Sweden.
The research focuses on bacterial genomics, phylogeny, antimicrobial resistance, and infectious diseases. The successful researcher will combine practical microbiological wet-lab work with bioinformatic analysis of sequence data and contribute to projects examining the intersection of humans, animals, and the environment. The role includes a coordinating function across several projects, subject expertise, collaboration with researchers from diverse scientific backgrounds, and interaction with and supervision of students.
Applicants must have a PhD in microbiology focused on bacteriological research and antibiotic resistance, obtained by the employment decision. Priority is given to candidates who completed their PhD within three years of the application deadline. Experience in bacteriological laboratory methods, experimental design, method development, bacterial genomic analysis including antimicrobial resistance, teaching or supervision, independent research, and translational microbiology is required. Fluency in English and Swedish is required. Veterinary medicine or infection biology, Nanopore sequencing, CLC-based genomic analysis, bacterial genetic engineering, and interdisciplinary collaboration are additional merits.
This is a two-year temporary, full-time position with an individually determined salary. Applications must include a CV, publication list, and letter of recommendation. The application deadline is 11 November 2026. Contact Josef Järhult at [email protected] for further information.
