About this position
Postdoctoral Researcher – Materials Informatics at Johns Hopkins University (Whiting School of Engineering, Baltimore, Maryland, USA).
The Entropy for Energy (S4E) Laboratory led by PI Corey Oses is recruiting postdoctoral researchers for data-driven discovery of energy materials. Research directions include fusion and fission materials, redox chemistry, and quantum-computing-enabled materials discovery.
Relevant study areas include materials science, physics, chemistry, computer science, and quantum information science, with strong overlap in materials informatics, machine learning, solid-state physics, high-entropy materials, and computational materials science.
Eligibility highlights: applicants should hold a doctorate (or be near completion of the PhD), have a strong publication record with at least three peer-reviewed first-author papers accessible to the team, and demonstrate experience with VASP, Quantum ESPRESSO, LAMMPS, or similar ab-initio tools. Strong C++ and Python programming skills, Unix proficiency, and the ability to lead research projects and work with experimentalists are required. Background knowledge in thermodynamics of materials, solid-state physics, inorganic chemistry, and metallurgy is expected.
Preferred expertise: high-entropy materials, disorder, phonons, magnetism, catalysis, machine learning/AI, database or API development, and quantum computing for materials science.
Funding: full-time postdoctoral fellowship with salary range $63,480–$74,424 per year.
Application: submit materials through Interfolio at the link provided. You may also include DOIs for three recent and relevant publications. The posting is open until filled.
