About this position
Radboudumc in Nijmegen, the Netherlands, is recruiting a Postdoctoral Researcher for a two-year project on overcoming resistance mechanisms in pancreatic cancer and other solid cancers.
The research combines translational oncology, cancer biology, peptide-based targeting, nanomedicine, and targeted drug delivery. The successful candidate will design and characterize peptide-functionalized and nanoparticle-based delivery systems, reprogram the tumor microenvironment, and develop strategies to improve chemotherapy and immunotherapy. Work will include in vitro and in vivo efficacy, biodistribution, and mechanistic studies using pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma disease models.
The postdoc will join a multidisciplinary translational nanomedicine group of approximately 8–10 researchers and staff, collaborating with biologists, clinicians, materials scientists, pharmaceutical researchers, and junior researchers. Available infrastructure includes advanced microscopy, flow cytometry, single-cell sequencing, spatial multi-omics, high-content imaging, organ-on-chip platforms, 3D tissue modeling, and in vivo imaging facilities.
Applicants need a PhD in cancer biology, drug delivery, nanomedicine, molecular medicine, or a related field. Relevant expertise includes cancer cell biology, tumor stroma or microenvironment-targeted therapy, nanomedicine formulation and characterization, molecular biology, flow cytometry, confocal microscopy, histology or spatial analysis, and 3D models such as organoids, microfluidics, organ-on-chip systems, complex co-cultures, or 3D bioprinting. In vivo oncology experience is preferred. A strong publication record, excellent English, problem-solving ability, and collaborative skills are required. Living in or near Nijmegen may be necessary because of potential animal work outside regular hours, and a Certificate of Conduct is required.
The position is 36 hours per week, fixed-term for two years, with a gross monthly salary of €3,724–€5,867, plus holiday allowance, end-of-year bonus, vacation hours, and other employment benefits. Applications close on 31 October 2026.

What's required
Applicants must hold a completed PhD in Cancer Biology, Drug Delivery, Nanomedicine, Molecular Medicine, or a closely related discipline. Demonstrated experience in cancer cell biology, tumor stroma dynamics, or microenvironment-targeted therapy is required, along with hands-on expertise in nanomedicine formulation and characterization or targeted delivery systems. Applicants should have a solid grounding in molecular biology, flow cytometry, confocal microscopy, and histological or spatial analysis, plus experience with 3D tissue models such as organoids, microfluidics, organ-on-chip systems, complex co-cultures, or 3D bioprinting. Experience with preclinical in vivo oncology models is preferred. A strong publication record relative to career stage, excellent written and spoken English, strong problem-solving skills, and a collaborative mindset are expected. Candidates must be willing to live in or near Nijmegen because of potential laboratory animal work outside regular hours and must obtain a Certificate of Conduct (VOG).
