Postdoctoral Researcher in Plant Microbiome, Remote Sensing, and AI for Agriculture Université de Picardie Jules Verne in France

The PoMiFrance project at Université de Picardie Jules Verne (UPJV) and CNRS (EDYSAN) in Amiens, France, is seeking a postdoctoral researcher for a 2-year fully funded position. The research focuses on the influence of native potato microbiomes on crop performance in one of France's largest potato-producing regions. The interdisciplinary project combines plant microbiome sequencing, drone-based crop monitoring, digital phenotyping, and machine learning to develop predictive models for potato crop vigor and productivity under real farming conditions.

The position is based at EDYSAN, a joint research unit between CNRS and UPJV, and involves collaborations with international partners such as the University of Antwerp (Belgium) and Utrecht University (Netherlands), as well as regional agricultural organizations and industry partners. The successful candidate will work on plant-microbiome-environment interactions, generating and analyzing sequencing and meta-omics data, integrating these datasets with remote sensing and digital phenotyping, and contributing to predictive modeling using machine learning approaches. The role also includes participation in field campaigns, experimental trials, publishing results, and project coordination.

Applicants must have a PhD in microbial ecology, plant biology, bioinformatics, environmental biology, agronomy, or a related field. Required skills include experience in microbiome research (metabarcoding, metatranscriptomics), programming in R or Python, and strong communication skills in English. Knowledge of French, experience in collaborative research, and familiarity with machine learning, digital phenotyping, and remote sensing are advantageous.
