About this position
The Université Grenoble Alpes is seeking a postdoctoral researcher in population biology and ecology to join the Alpine Ecology Laboratory (LECA), a joint research unit of CNRS, UGA, and USMB, and a member of the Grenoble Observatory of Universe Sciences (OSUG). LECA is renowned for its research on biodiversity, ecosystem dynamics, and the impacts of anthropogenic pressures, with a special focus on alpine environments.
This full-time, fixed-term position runs from March 1, 2026, to August 30, 2027, and is based at LECA Biology D in Gières, France. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Dr. Thibaut Capblancq and Dr. Olivier François, both recognized experts in statistical modelling and genotype-environment association (GEA) methods. The project offers excellent opportunities for mentoring, technical development, and engagement with cutting-edge research in ecological genomics.
The main objective is to develop and implement a statistical framework to identify the genetic basis of local adaptation to climate and estimate the maladaptation of populations to climate change. The work will involve developing mediation analysis models that integrate phenotypes, genotypes, and environmental variables, conducting simulation studies, applying models to real datasets, and evaluating the predictive potential of these approaches for future climates. The postdoc will also be expected to write scientific articles, present results at conferences, and help organize a thematic school or advanced workshop on ecological genomics.
Applicants must hold a doctorate in a relevant field such as biology, ecology, genetics, or biostatistics. Experience with statistical modelling, simulation studies, and ecological genomics is highly desirable. Strong analytical, writing, and collaborative skills are required. The position offers a gross monthly salary starting from €2,900, commensurate with experience.
For more information about LECA, visit https://leca.osug.fr/. For recruitment inquiries, contact Carlyne Beniere at [email protected]. For position-specific questions, contact Dr. Thibaut Capblancq at [email protected].
Applications should be submitted via the application portal before February 20, 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for early-career researchers interested in ecological genomics, population biology, and the impacts of climate change on biodiversity.
