About this position

The University of Jyväskylä's Faculty of Education and Psychology is recruiting a Postdoctoral Researcher for the Academy of Finland funded project "GENTRY - Towards sustainability of multi-generational learning at work." This project investigates generationality and its construction within healthcare and ICT organizations across Finland, Sweden, and Denmark. Utilizing multi-method ethnographic approaches, the research aims to identify types of learning generations, inter- and intra-generational workplace learning practices, and the support needs of work communities to foster sustainable workplace learning environments.

The successful candidate will join a vibrant, multidisciplinary research community renowned for its high-quality research in learning, teaching, and interaction. The faculty's mission centers on learning and wellbeing as foundations for a sustainable future society, and it is recognized as a top unit in Finland for teacher education and psychotherapy training. The department coordinates several research infrastructures and networks, including the Centre for Interdisciplinary Brain Research and the Centre for Research on Learning and Teaching.

The postdoctoral position is a fixed-term appointment for two years, starting February 1, 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter. The salary is determined by the university's salary system for teaching and research staff, with a gross monthly range of approximately 3600-4800 euros, depending on qualifications and experience. The role offers excellent working conditions, a lively campus, and access to Finland's high standard of living, including free schooling, affordable childcare, and comprehensive healthcare. Jyväskylä is a major educational center with a vibrant cultural scene and abundant opportunities for outdoor activities.

Applicants must hold a relevant doctoral degree completed before the starting date and have demonstrated research experience in generationality and/or workplace learning. Expertise in quantitative and/or qualitative research methods and participatory research methods is essential. Additional merits include national and international networking, evidence of external research funding, multidisciplinary and collaborative project experience, teaching and supervision experience, and strong collaboration skills. Proficiency in Swedish is considered an asset.

Application documents must be submitted in English and PDF format, including a curriculum vitae (max 3 pages), a motivation/cover letter (max 2 pages), a numbered publication list, degree certificate, and a research plan (max 3 pages). Applicants must have an active and public ORCID profile. Applications must be submitted via the online application form by December 7, 2025; email applications will not be considered.
