About this position

The National Laboratory of the Rockies is recruiting a full-time Postdoctoral Researcher in transportation digital twins, large-scale simulation, and high-performance computing at its Golden, Colorado location.

The researcher will join the Advanced Computing Solutions Group within the Computational Science Center. The project focuses on developing and validating traffic and vehicle simulation models and scalable computing workflows for connected and automated vehicle operations, traffic control, mobility, safety, and transportation energy impacts.

Responsibilities include developing, calibrating, and validating traffic digital twins and co-simulation models; designing vehicle and traffic-signal control strategies using optimization or machine learning; building HPC workflows for large-scale simulation and scenario analysis; integrating traffic, vehicle, communication, and energy models; and communicating findings through publications, reports, and presentations.

Applicants must have a PhD in a relevant engineering, computing, or mathematical discipline, completed within the last three years, along with experience in transportation modeling, scientific computing, or large-scale simulation. Proficiency in Python, C/C++, or MATLAB is required. Experience with SUMO, CARLA, MPI, CUDA, HPC clusters, CAV control, V2X communication, co-simulation, or transportation energy models is advantageous.

The annual salary is $76,600–$126,400, with a comprehensive benefits package. Applications should include the online application form, cover letter, and resume. The anticipated application window is up to 30 days and may be extended.
