About this position

The Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to join the Start4All initiative, a global research program focused on improving access to tuberculosis (TB) diagnosis and care. This position is part of Phase 2 of the Start4All project, funded by Unitaid and co-led with the Stop TB Partnership. The research team, led by Tom Wingfield (Reader in Tuberculosis & Social Medicine), collaborates with international partners across Bangladesh, Cameroon, Kenya, Nigeria, and Vietnam.

The successful candidate will contribute to high-impact research on TB diagnostics, including the implementation and evaluation of CAD- and NPOC-initiated and pooled sputum screening and diagnostic algorithms. The project involves community- and facility-based case finding, with a focus on both adults and children, and aims to shape global health policy by informing World Health Organization guidelines. The research uses mixed methods and implementation science approaches to address barriers to TB diagnosis, especially in underserved populations.

Applicants should have expertise in TB diagnostics, mixed methods research, and implementation science. Experience working in global health and resource-constrained settings is highly desirable. The position is fully funded by Unitaid, covering salary and research expenses. The role offers the opportunity to work with leading experts and contribute to research that has already influenced WHO policy on pooled testing for TB.

To apply, candidates should use the provided application link and submit a CV and cover letter detailing their relevant experience. For more information, visit the LSTM website or contact the research team via LinkedIn.
