About this position
One postdoctoral position is available in Professor Karin Loré’s research group at Karolinska Institutet, within the Department of Medicine, Solna and the Division of Immunology and Respiratory Medicine in Stockholm. The project sits in an international and collaborative environment and is embedded in an EU consortium, giving the successful candidate the chance to interact with leading vaccine researchers and to build expertise across disciplines.
The research is centered on understanding mechanisms of action of vaccines and how different vaccine formulations regulate immunity. The work will examine how vaccination generates high-quality, durable B cell and T cell responses, with particular attention to the early innate immune profile after vaccination and the later development of antigen-specific adaptive responses. A major emphasis is placed on mRNA vaccines and protein vaccines with different adjuvants.
The postdoctoral researcher will work with clinical samples, non-human primate models, and standard immunological and molecular methods. The project includes high-resolution analyses of early cell activation, gene modulation, and antigen-specific B cell and T cell responses. The role also involves participating in experimental design, generating and presenting results, publishing findings, and contributing to regular consortium meetings and broader research activities within the group and department.
The group offers a setting with strong expertise in vaccination, immune modulation, infections, and allergy research, as well as access to modern infrastructure in a leading medical university environment. The position is conducted in English and is part of an international team working on timely questions in vaccine immunology.

What's required
Applicants must have a PhD degree in immunology, biomedicine or a related discipline, or equivalent scientific competence; applicants who have not completed the doctorate by the application deadline may still apply if all degree requirements will be met before the intended start date and this is confirmed by the main supervisor, director or equivalent. Knowledge of vaccine immunology is required, along with proven experience in relevant experimental approaches such as clinical and animal study sample processing, ELISA, flow cytometry, T cell assays including AIM/ICS, and antigen-specific B cell probing. Good communication skills in English and the ability to collaborate effectively in a team are required, and personal suitability and compatibility with lab members will be emphasized.
