About this position

DTU - Technical University of Denmark is preparing to hire two postdoctoral researchers in offshore wind under the supervision of Yanlin Shao, Associate Professor and Head of studies for the Nordic Master in Maritime Engineering. The positions are linked to a recent EU project success and are expected to be advertised officially after the summer.

The first postdoctoral project will focus on hydrodynamics, mooring dynamics, and AI-augmented modelling. This includes physics-based modelling of hydrodynamic response, mooring dynamics, and coupled system behaviour, followed by AI-assisted response prediction, surrogate modelling, and design optimisation.

The second postdoctoral project will focus on structural modelling, reliability, and AI-augmented assessment. This includes physics-based modelling of structural response, fatigue and reliability of floating offshore systems, followed by AI-assisted uncertainty quantification, lifetime prediction, and efficient structural assessment.

These opportunities are especially relevant to candidates with backgrounds in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, and computer science, particularly those working on offshore structures, floating systems, modelling, reliability, and AI methods. Each position is expected to last about 2 to 2.5 years, with a possibility of extension.

Interested candidates are invited to contact Yanlin Shao in advance by sending a CV to [email protected]. The post explicitly asks applicants not to send LinkedIn private messages. No deadline is stated yet; the official calls are expected after the summer.
