About this position
Postdoctoral Scholar in Cancer Biology, Tumor Immunology, and Neutrophil Biology at the University of Kentucky
A fully funded postdoctoral scholar position is available immediately in the laboratory of Dr. Xia Liu in the Department of Toxicology and Cancer Biology at the University of Kentucky. The project sits at the intersection of cancer biology, tumor immunology, biomedical science, and myeloid cell biology, with a strong focus on how neutrophils and other myeloid cells regulate breast cancer progression, metastasis, and response to immunotherapy.
The research program is especially centered on triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) and on the tumor–host interactions that shape hematopoiesis, neutrophil development, and immune suppression. Possible projects include emergency granulopoiesis, circulating and tumor-associated neutrophil heterogeneity, PMN-MDSCs, metabolic reprogramming, anti-PD-1 resistance, and novel therapeutic strategies targeting tumor–myeloid interactions.
Eligibility highlights: applicants should hold a Ph.D., M.D./Ph.D., or equivalent degree in cancer biology, immunology, molecular/cellular biology, or a related field. Hands-on experience with mouse models and in vivo experiments is required, along with molecular and cellular biology skills. Experience with mouse tumor models is particularly valued. Additional strengths such as scRNA-seq analysis, flow cytometry, bone marrow transplantation, bioinformatics, and immunotherapy research are preferred.
Funding: the position is fully funded through recently awarded NIH/NCI R01 and American Cancer Society grants. The listed salary range is $63,480.
Application: submit a CV and cover letter through the University of Kentucky job portal. The deadline to apply is 2026-10-31.
