About this position

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas is seeking a postdoctoral scholar to join research in neuroimaging within the Department of Health Physics and Diagnostic Sciences in the School of Integrated Health Sciences. The role is centered on work with the UNLV MR Imaging Core (UMIC), a public brain imaging research facility that supports interdisciplinary investigation of brain function and brain health.

The scholar will work on MRI-based research and development, with opportunities to contribute to the PI’s research program and to propose independent ideas aligned with the group’s interests. Responsibilities include scientific research, manuscript preparation, data collection and analysis, grant support, and the development and implementation of innovative MRI acquisition and analysis methods. The position also involves providing methodological support to neuroscientific studies and assisting users and research groups at UMIC with technical and analytical issues.

Research at the core makes use of advanced imaging and experimental infrastructure, including a 3 Tesla Siemens Prisma MRI scanner, physiological measurement devices, audio/video presentation systems, high-performance computing resources, and multimodal neurostimulation and neurophysiology tools. The environment also includes facilities for behavioral experiments, EEG, phlebotomy, and MRI contrast administration, creating a highly collaborative setting for reproducible neuroimaging research.

The postdoctoral scholar will report to Ayan Sengupta, Assistant Professor and Associate Director of UMIC, and will receive mentorship from the PI and the PI’s broader research network. The appointment also includes mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, participation in teaching and academic service, and the chance to contribute to a growing R1 research environment at UNLV.
