The Kennemur Research Group in the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry is seeking a postdoctoral scholar to join a collaborative project focused on understanding the mechanisms of proton and hydroxide transport in advanced polymer membranes. The work sits at the intersection of polymer chemistry, materials science, and chemical engineering, with collaboration across multiple universities and a national laboratory.

The successful candidate will design, synthesize, functionalize, and characterize new polymers aimed at energy-related applications. The post emphasizes organic and polymer chemistry, polymer synthesis methods, post-polymerization functionalization, and analytical/characterization techniques used to quantify well-defined polymeric materials. The scholar will work closely with collaborators at the University of Pennsylvania, Michigan State University, and Sandia National Laboratories.

Eligibility highlights: a completed Ph.D. by the time of employment in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Materials Science, or a closely related field; strong research accomplishments; and preferred experience in organic/polymer synthesis and characterization.
