Postdoctoral Scholar Opportunity in Remote Sensing and Machine Learning at the University of Waterloo.

The Vision and Image Processing Group is seeking an outstanding postdoctoral scholar to join a research team working at the intersection of remote sensing, machine learning, computer vision, Earth observation, and geospatial analytics. The role has a strong emphasis on cryosphere applications and synthetic aperture radar (SAR), with opportunities to contribute to large-scale research in one of Canada’s largest computer vision and image analysis groups.

Research focus: Earth observation data analysis, deep learning for remote sensing, multi-sensor geospatial data processing, SAR, and cryosphere topics such as sea ice, snow, and glaciers.

Eligibility highlights: Applicants must already hold a PhD in Remote Sensing, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Design Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field. The PhD must have been awarded within the last four years. A strong publication record and demonstrated independent research experience are required, along with the ability to mentor and supervise students.

Preferred background: Experience in SAR, cryosphere research, deep learning, multi-sensor Earth observation, and large-scale geospatial analytics will strengthen the application.
