About this position
The Beat Childhood Cancer Research Consortium at The Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine is recruiting a Postdoctoral Scholar for the Pediatric Oncology Translational Research Lab (POTRL) in Hershey, Pennsylvania. The position is embedded in the Beat Childhood Cancer Research Consortium, an international clinical research sponsor and contract research organization that works with a network of more than 50 hospitals running investigator-initiated clinical trials.
This postdoctoral role is designed for an experienced researcher who will help advance preclinical and translational pediatric oncology. The scholar will design, execute, and troubleshoot experiments, develop original hypotheses, and generate publication-ready datasets for high-impact manuscripts. The lab environment emphasizes independent research, rigorous experimental record-keeping, and strong data integrity across projects.
The work also includes technology development and method implementation. The successful candidate will evaluate and apply emerging approaches such as single-cell sequencing, spatial transcriptomics, CRISPR screens, and PDX/organoid models to answer pediatric cancer biology questions. New protocols will be established, optimized, documented, and shared with lab personnel.
Collaboration is a major part of the role. The scholar will contribute to lab meetings, journal clubs, and departmental seminars, work with clinical collaborators and translational teams, and participate in multi-PI consortium projects. The post also involves mentoring rotation and graduate students, helping with laboratory training materials and SOPs, and contributing to grant applications and collaborative publications.
The position is on-site and part of a research program focused on pediatric cancer biology and translational discovery within the Penn State College of Medicine research environment.
