About this position
The Gut–Brain Science Laboratory at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine is recruiting a postdoctoral scholar for an NIH-funded research program led by Dr. Rajan Singh in the Department of Physiology and Cell Biology.
The project centers on the cellular and molecular mechanisms that contribute to gastroparesis, gastrointestinal dysmotility, intestinal barrier dysfunction, and related disorders of gut–brain interaction. The successful scholar will help investigate how gut-resident macrophages regulate gastric neuromuscular function and epithelial barrier integrity, using a combination of genetically engineered mouse models and translational studies with coded human gastric and duodenal biopsy specimens.
The lab’s research environment is highly multidisciplinary, combining neurogastroenterology, mucosal immunology, gastrointestinal physiology, molecular biology, single-cell transcriptomics, advanced imaging, and human tissue-based translational research. The postdoctoral scholar will work with Dr. Singh and collaborating investigators on mechanistic studies of muscularis and mucosal macrophages, in vivo physiology experiments, barrier-function assays, immune-cell characterization, and the interpretation of high-dimensional datasets. The role also offers opportunities to contribute to manuscripts, abstracts, conference presentations, and multidisciplinary collaborations within the broader program.
