About this position
This postdoctoral opening is based at the USC Center for Genetic Epidemiology within the Department of Population and Public Health Sciences at the University of Southern California. The project sits at the intersection of cancer research, genetic epidemiology, and multi-omics analysis, with work spanning large cohort and consortium data.
The appointed scholar will work directly with Dr. Chris Haiman and Dr. Fei Chen on studies of risk factors and genetic architecture. The research includes analysis of GWAS, whole-genome and whole-exome sequence data, copy number variants, LoY, CHIP, and other omics layers such as metabolomics, proteomics, methylation, and microbiome data.
Projects draw on diverse cohorts and large-scale genetics consortia, including the Multiethnic Cohort study, the RESPOND African American prostate cancer study, NHGRI PAGE, and PRIMED. In addition to cancer, the research program extends to non-cancer outcomes such as anthropometric traits, diabetes, chronic kidney disease, and related biomarkers.
The position also offers opportunities to develop multi-omics risk prediction models, investigate rare and structural variants, and contribute to health disparities research. The fellow will present findings and help write scientific publications in a collaborative research environment focused on genetic association studies and population-based analysis.
