About this position
This postdoctoral opening sits in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine at the Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California, and is embedded in the Genomic and Epigenomic Regulation Program within the USC/Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center.
The project is centered on molecular biology, genomics, and epigenomics, with a strong wet-lab emphasis. The postdoctoral scholar will carry out high-throughput sequencing epigenomics assays and broader genomic/epigenomic experiments in human cells and tissues. The work includes developing new approaches to profile the three-dimensional epigenome and to explore gene and epigenetic editing.
The role is highly collaborative and multi-lab in nature, with the trainee expected to lead multiple research projects under the direction of Dr. Suhn Rhie. The position also involves hypothesis-driven cellular and molecular experiments, preparing presentations, writing scientific manuscripts, and helping teach techniques to other lab members.
The broader research environment is cancer-focused and strongly translational, bringing together a team of scientists working across labs and supported by the resources of USC and Keck Medicine. The postdoctoral trainee is also expected to develop professionally by pursuing independent fellowship and grant applications during the training period.

What's required
Applicants should possess a PhD or be close to completion of a PhD or DPhil in Molecular and Cellular Biology, Genetics, Biology, or a relevant field. A PhD or equivalent doctorate within the previous three years is required, with 0–1 year of experience. Familiarity with genomic technologies is essential. Experience with antibodies (western blots, immunoprecipitations, etc.) and standard molecular biology techniques such as PCR amplification, DNA extraction, cloning, and gel electrophoresis is expected. Experience with epigenomic assays such as CRISPR/Cas9, DNA methylation, ChIP-, ATAC-, and Hi-C is a plus but not required. Strong organizational and communication skills, the ability to learn new techniques quickly, and strict attention to detail are required.
