About this position
UIC Barcelona’s School of Architecture research laboratory is seeking a predoctoral candidate to develop a doctoral thesis connected to the Carbon Passport Tool (CPT), a decision-support tool for building decarbonization.
The CPT is being developed to compare and prioritize building rehabilitation strategies according to their carbon impact while incorporating energy and economic criteria. The doctoral research will contribute to the decarbonization and circular economy of the building sector, with an applied orientation and a focus on transferring knowledge to professional practice.
The candidate will investigate life cycle assessment and the embodied and operational carbon of buildings, compare rehabilitation scenarios and intervention sequences, develop methodologies and digital tools for decision-making, and apply and validate the CPT through case studies. The work combines architectural and building research with environmental assessment, energy analysis, data processing, and potential programming.
The research will be undertaken within the School of Architecture laboratory at UIC Barcelona, in collaboration with its research team and in an environment oriented toward applied research and sustainable building rehabilitation.
