The Interdisciplinary Geoinformation Science working group at Ruhr University Bochum (RUB) is seeking a Research Associate (Wissenschaftliche*r Mitarbeiter*in) for a 2-year, part-time (75%) position within the REFLECT project—Remote and Field Training for Environmental Change. This project is dedicated to the innovative design of higher education in Germany and Kenya, with a focus on environmental monitoring, remote sensing, and geoinformation science. The successful candidate will join a German-Kenyan team to develop and deliver a digital course (in English) on fieldwork, GIS, and remote sensing. Responsibilities include supporting students during practical phases in Kenya, moderating student reflection sessions, and coordinating participatory course design. The role emphasizes the integration of practical skills in environmental monitoring and the use of geodata, with a strong focus on student participation and reflection in the learning process. Applicants should have a degree in Geography, Geoinformatics, or a related field, with experience in remote sensing, geodata processing, and field data collection. Strong English skills, independence, and teamwork are required. Teaching experience and international project collaboration are advantageous. The position is funded by external project funds and compensated according to the TV-L E13 pay scale.
