About this position

RIKEN is recruiting a Special Research Fellow for the RIKEN Hakubi Research Team for Quantum Complexity Analysis at the Quantum Computing Research Center in Wako, Saitama, Japan.

This is a postdoctoral-equivalent, fixed-term research position focused on theoretical work in quantum information and quantum complexity. The team works on mathematically challenging problems related to quantum many-body systems, including quantum algorithms, Hamiltonian complexity, quantum entanglement, Lieb-Robinson limit, entanglement entropy, thermodynamics, statistical mechanics, resource theory, condensed matter theory, and machine learning.

Eligibility: applicants must have a PhD in physics or information science in the area of quantum systems research, or be expected to obtain the PhD by the hiring date. The posting notes that, in principle, candidates who earned their doctorate within the last five years are preferred.

Funding: annual income starts at 4 million yen and is based on an annual salary system with fixed and variable components. Commuting allowance, housing allowance, and social insurance are provided. The role is eligible for KAKENHI applications.
