About this position

RIKEN is recruiting one Special Research Fellow or Research Fellow for the newly established Institute of Strongly Correlated Quantum Phase Science / Center for Emergent Matter Science (CEMS) in Wako, Saitama, Japan.

This opportunity is centered on condensed matter physics, especially strongly correlated systems, superconductivity, magnetism, and many-body electron systems. The successful candidate will develop and implement numerical and analytical computation methods (including programming) for many-body calculations in metals, superconductors, and magnetic materials, and conduct research on strongly correlated quantum properties.

Eligibility highlights: applicants must hold a PhD in physics or be expected to obtain one by the hiring date. Prior research experience in condensed matter theory is required, along with strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively. The post is a fixed-term contract, initially for one year with possible renewal up to five years subject to evaluation.

Funding and conditions: annual income starts at about 4 million yen, with an annual salary system, discretionary work allowance, commuting allowance, housing allowance, and social insurance.
