This fully funded PhD opportunity at Nottingham Trent University investigates the health and social impacts of community-based walking football in underprivileged areas of Nottingham(shire). The project is led by Dr Philip Hennis, Dr Matthew Jacques, Prof Clifford Stevenson, and Colin Eley, with collaboration between Nottingham Trent University, University of Nottingham, and Nottingham Forest Community Trust. The research aims to understand the physical, mental, and social health outcomes associated with walking football, using a mixed-methods participatory framework.

The project includes both quantitative health assessments and qualitative interviews, focusing on community engagement and the lived experience of participants. The successful candidate will be enrolled at Nottingham Trent University and will work full-time, primarily in-person, with flexible arrangements possible.

Funding covers full tuition and provides a tax-free stipend of £20,780 per annum. Applicants should have experience working with diverse groups, strong research and analytical skills, and a passion for community-engaged research.
