About this position
The University of Lausanne (UNIL) is seeking a motivated and reliable Student Assistant to join the team of Professor Martin Müller in the Institute of Geography and Sustainability. This position is part of the Culture for the Planet project, an international research-for-action initiative that brings together researchers, arts and cultural organisations, funders, and policymakers to embed sustainability into cultural governance and everyday organisational practice. The successful candidate will support both teaching and research activities, including courses in the Bachelor specialisation in Geography, Environment and Societies, and the Master degree in Geography, Environment and Planning.
Key responsibilities include assisting with website optimisation, preparing contact lists, structuring mailing tools, supporting system set-up activities, preparing monitoring tables and dashboards, updating and optimising databases, benchmarking and comparison exercises, and organising communication materials. The student will also provide logistical and organisational support for lectures and courses.
Applicants must be currently enrolled at UNIL, possess a very good command of English, be well organised, systematic, able to work independently, and comfortable in an international environment. Familiarity with basic digital tools such as spreadsheets, shared folders, and simple CMS is required. An interest in geography, sustainability, and the arts and cultural sector is expected. The position offers flexible working hours, a collaborative and supportive academic environment, and the opportunity to contribute to an international project focused on sustainability in the arts and culture sector.
The contract runs from 1 April 2026 to 31 January 2027, with a 40% workload. The position is based at the University of Lausanne, Geopolis Building, and requires proficiency in both English and French. The application deadline is February 25, 2026, but applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled. To apply, candidates should submit a single PDF containing a cover letter and full CV to [email protected]. For further information, contact Zoé Berney at the same email address.
UNIL is committed to equality, diversity, and inclusion, and offers a multicultural, diverse, and dynamic academic environment with many activities and benefits for students. The university supports early career researchers and provides working conditions that facilitate work-life balance.
