The PhD student is expected to begin on November 1st, 2025 and last three years, after which candidates are expected to defend their # PhD thesis.
The position is funded by the Tech Europe Foundation and offers an enhanced funding of €1800/month net, with the usual 50% increase during research stays abroad. This position may be awarded to a candidate with outstanding qualifications, such as a strong academic record and demonstrated interest or experience (e.g., acquired during the master's thesis) in # spintronics , # nanoelectronics , or related # research .
This project addresses transistors - the fundamental building blocks of all electronic devices – and aims to increase their energy efficiency ?? and speed enormously, looking ahead to advanced applications such as neuromorphic and memory-in-logic devices. Current transistors consume substantial power, a growing challenge given the increasing number of electronic devices worldwide. This research focuses on exploring several ferroic materials that possess non-volatile electrically writable memory and operate at lower voltages than traditional ones. By tailoring chemical composition, structure, and doping, the team aims to design transistors that are:
? Faster
?? More energy-efficient
?? Ready for neuromorphic and in-memory computing
