A fully funded PhD position is available at Politecnico di Milano, supervised by Associate Professor Christian Rinaldi, focusing on advanced research in spintronics, nanoelectronics, and materials science. The project aims to develop next-generation transistors with enhanced energy efficiency and speed, targeting applications in neuromorphic and memory-in-logic devices. Research will involve exploring novel ferroic materials with non-volatile, electrically writable memory, operating at lower voltages than traditional transistors. The successful candidate will investigate material alloys, test their properties, and contribute to the design of transistors that are faster, more energy-efficient, and suitable for future computing paradigms. Applicants should have a Master’s degree in physics, electronics, materials science, or related fields, with a strong academic record and interest or experience in spintronics or nanoelectronics. The position offers a net monthly stipend of €1800, with a 50% increase during research stays abroad, funded by the Tech Europe Foundation. The PhD program starts November 1, 2025, and lasts three years. Candidates must apply online by September 30, 2025, and can contact Prof. Rinaldi for further information or a preliminary suitability assessment. The research environment is interdisciplinary and international, and strong English communication skills are required. This opportunity is ideal for candidates eager to address global energy challenges and work at the forefront of materials and device physics.
