About this position
Uppsala University is advertising two fully funded PhD positions in pharmacometrics with a strong global health focus at the Department of Pharmacy in Sweden. The positions begin in August 2026 and are linked to two research directions: tropical pharmacology (including malaria and leishmaniasis, with work on mass drug administration strategies and the ERC-funded TRANSPHORM project) and drug-resistant tuberculosis (embedded in the international consortia UNITE4TB and EX-DR TB).
The projects use pharmacometric modelling and simulation, pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics (PK/PD), systems pharmacology, and clinical trial data. Successful candidates will develop data-driven models for drug treatment, analyse clinical trial datasets, collaborate with international research groups, and publish and present findings. This is a research-intensive doctoral opportunity for applicants interested in infectious diseases, treatment optimization, and quantitative drug development.
Eligibility highlights include an MSc in pharmacy, medicine, engineering, or a related field (or a Master in Pharmaceutical Modelling/Drug Development), with coursework in pharmacokinetics, physiology, pharmacology, modelling, and programming. Strong skills in R and NONMEM are expected, along with advanced English proficiency, teamwork, motivation, and structured research ability. Experience with clinical trials or global health research is considered a merit.
The application requires a motivation letter, CV, diplomas and certificates, two recommendation letters, and any thesis or relevant supporting documents. The deadline is 15 May 2026. Applications must be submitted through Uppsala University’s recruitment system.
