About this position
The University of Iowa Stead Family Department of Pediatrics is recruiting two full-time, one-year postdoctoral fellows in Pediatric Psychology for the 2027-2028 academic year in Iowa City, United States.
The fellowship prepares scientist-practitioners for academic research and clinical careers. Applicants may pursue one of three tracks: Health Psychology, Pediatric Neuropsychology, or Behavior Analysis. Fellows spend approximately 70% of their time in clinical services, with additional opportunities for research and structured educational activities.
The Health Psychology track supports children and adolescents with conditions including diabetes, cystic fibrosis, inflammatory bowel disease, and chronic pain in outpatient specialty clinics, with opportunities to focus on pediatric subspecialties and participate in inpatient consultation. The Pediatric Neuropsychology track involves psychological assessment of learning and attention disorders and neuropsychological testing for youth with conditions such as seizures, cancer, and kidney transplantation. The Behavior Analysis track addresses challenging behavior, developmental disabilities, feeding difficulties, aggression, self-injury, severe tantrums, noncompliance, and related concerns through consultation, assessment, intervention, and intensive services.
Applicants must hold a PhD in clinical, counseling, or school psychology and complete an APA/APPIC-approved internship before September 1, 2027. A provisional Iowa psychology license is required by the start date. The stipend is $63,480-$77,076, commensurate with NIH guidelines, and includes health benefits, paid vacation, paid sick leave, and conference attendance time.
Applications are accepted until December 1, 2026, or until the positions are filled. Submit a CV, three recommendation letters, and a letter of intent; Neuropsychology applicants should also provide a de-identified diagnostic report.
