Postdoctoral Position in Statistics Education at University of Copenhagen

University of Copenhagen’s Novo Nordisk Foundation Centre for University Science Education (NNF-USE) is recruiting a three-year postdoc in Statistics Education within the project Toolbox Courses in Data Science , led by Professor Carl Winsløw. The postdoctoral researcher will work on university-level statistics/data science education, focusing on how students in science programmes can gain authentic experience with data analysis in broader disciplinary contexts such as nanoscience or machine learning. The role involves curriculum analysis, designing and experimenting with didactical designs, collecting and analysing data from educational experiments, and publishing in high-quality international journals. This opportunity sits in the Department of Science Education and the research group on Didactics of Mathematics, with collaboration across the University of Copenhagen and the University of Aarhus, and links to partners at the University of Southern Denmark and abroad. The environment is strongly interdisciplinary and research-intensive, with a focus on science education, mathematics education, and data science education. Eligibility highlights: applicants must hold a PhD in statistics education or data science education by 1 January 2027 and a master’s degree in statistics or a closely related field. Documented teaching proficiency in university-level statistics is required, preferably with experience teaching students from other natural sciences. Strong English communication skills are expected; Danish is not required, though willingness to adapt to a Danish-speaking environment is appreciated. Funding and terms: full-time employment for 37 hours/week, with salary, pension, and conditions under the Danish academic agreement. The current monthly salary starts at 39,993 DKK (approx. 5,350 EUR, August 2026 level), plus pension contributions and possible supplements depending on qualifications. Teaching and dissemination make up about 20% of the workload. Application window: submit the application in English through the University of Copenhagen job portal by 13 September 2026 . Required materials include a cover letter, research statement, CV, teaching documentation, copies of master’s and PhD diplomas (or proof of expected completion), publication list, up to three publications, and names and email addresses of two references.
