Postdoctoral Position in Computational Glycobiology

The University of Barcelona is offering a postdoctoral position in computational glycobiology, supervised by Professor Carme Rovira. This opportunity is based in the Chemistry Department and focuses on applying advanced computational methods to model enzymatic reactions and glycan-protein interactions. The successful candidate will develop new algorithms and analyze simulation data to support drug discovery efforts. The position is funded through an EU programme and is available from February 1, 2026, for one year, with the possibility of renewal until January 31, 2027. The postdoc will engage in high-quality research, present findings at conferences, collaborate with research groups across Europe, help supervise PhD and MSc students, and participate in grant writing and outreach activities. Applicants must hold a PhD in Chemistry awarded before January 31, 2026, and have expertise in computational chemistry, QM/MM, and free-energy simulations. Additional desirable skills include a background in biology, carbohydrate chemistry, organic chemistry reactions, protein modelling, molecular dynamics, and metadynamics simulations. Candidates should demonstrate experience in computational chemistry and enzyme-catalyzed reactions, possess a strong publication record, and be fluent in English. Technical proficiency in at least two of the following areas is required: quantum chemistry methods, molecular dynamics, statistics, scripting, and programming. The selection process involves a committee from the research group and the Organic Chemistry department, who will shortlist candidates for interviews before January 20, 2026.
