PhD Scholarship in Psychological Flexibility, Wellbeing and Mental Health Strain in Elite Athletes

PhD scholarship opportunity at the University of Adelaide in sport and exercise psychology , psychological flexibility , wellbeing , mental health strain , and cognitive science . The project is titled “Psychological flexibility, wellbeing and mental health strain in elite athletes: extending the validity and utility of the PPFI-Sport” and is supervised by Dr John Baranoff , with a supervisory panel including Professor Carolyn Semmler , Dr Rosie Stanimirovic , and representatives from the Australian Institute of Sport . This is a fully funded PhD scholarship under the Personal and Societal Health research theme . The project is primarily quantitative and will use validated wellbeing measures, the PPFI-Sport , and the Athlete Psychological Strain Questionnaire (APSQ) in a large longitudinal sample of elite Australian athletes. Applicants should have strong quantitative/statistical skills . Experience and/or interest in sport psychology , exercise psychology , or health psychology is desirable. The opportunity is open to domestic and international candidates, though some citizenship conditions apply. Expression of interest deadline: 30 September 2026.
