computational epigenetics
, specifically developing methods to infer upstream regulators of DNA methylation from matched gene expression and DNA methylation data. The project combines
machine learning

network-based modeling
, and classical bioinformatics pipelines, with a strong emphasis on creative, independent method development and reproducible computational biology.
The successful candidate will work in a computational lab with ongoing collaborations with wet-lab scientists. The role is ideal for applicants with a strong background in bioinformatics, ML, computer science, applied mathematics, or related quantitative fields, and a strong interest in epigenetics and omics data analysis.
Eligibility highlights:
completed or nearly completed PhD in bioinformatics, machine learning, computer science, or a related field; Master's degree in computer science, bioinformatics, applied mathematics, or a related field; evidence of strong research output in leading life sciences and/or ML venues; willingness to collaborate across computational and experimental teams.
Funding and terms:
full-time paid position at TV-L E 13, temporary until 31.12.2028, with salary progression under the public service agreement and an additional annual bonus. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, pension scheme, and savings scheme.
