Eric C.J. Claas is the Head of Molecular Diagnostics at Leiden University Medical Center in the Netherlands. His research areas include molecular assays for viral quantification, hospital transmission of antibiotic-resistant bacteria, and rapid sample preparation techniques for SARS-CoV-2 screening. He has recently contributed to studies evaluating the performance of the Alinity m Molecular assay and the transmission dynamics of Staphylococcus aureus through whole-genome sequencing.
