This full-time Research Fellow position at Monash University’s Clayton campus sits within an exciting structural biology research program focused on the structure and molecular mechanisms of the heme biosynthetic machinery. The successful researcher will lead independent projects using advanced cryo-structural methods, especially single particle cryogenic electron microscopy (cryoEM) and cryogenic electron tomography (cryoET), to help reveal how these important biological processes work at the molecular level. The role combines experimental structural biology with complementary biochemical, enzymatic, biophysical and spectroscopic approaches. The work includes organelle isolation, sub-mitochondrial particle preparation and native membrane protein isolation, supporting a research program centered on membrane protein complexes and their functional characterisation. Working with a degree of independence and in collaboration with other researchers, the appointee will contribute to research design, data analysis and interpretation, manuscript preparation, and support for postgraduate students. The role also includes participation in broader academic activities within Monash’s research environment. The position is linked to Associate Professor James Letts and offers the opportunity to work in a world top 50 university with strong research facilities, infrastructure and international collaboration opportunities. Monash presents this as an active, collaborative and inclusive environment for advancing cutting-edge structural biology research.
