PhD Positions in Systems Neuroscience and Memory Computation at EPFL

Two PhD openings are available in systems neuroscience at EPFL Neuro in Lausanne, Switzerland, in the lab of James Priestley (Priestley Lab). The projects focus on the neural computations underlying rapid memory formation and memory-guided behaviour, with an emphasis on hippocampal-cortical networks , rapid plasticity, neural population dynamics, and memory allocation/recall. The research is part of the ERC-funded project “DYNAGRAM” , which will investigate novel virtual reality paradigms for few-shot learning and how hippocampal memory traces drive rapid behavioural adaptation. Methods include large-scale neural recordings, targeted neural circuit perturbations, mouse VR paradigms, software development, and computational analysis/modelling of large neural and behavioural datasets. Applicants with strong computational methods are especially encouraged. Prior in vivo mouse experience is useful but not mandatory. The lab is embedded in a multidisciplinary neuroscience institute at EPFL, offering a strong training environment for PhD students. Application deadline: November 1 .
